Last Tuesday, Kelly and I met for our much loved Starbucks weekly meeting. We have been meeting at the same location for several years just to break free of the studio and enjoy the energy and creativity that we always find there. As we started to unwind and get down to business, a stranger was watching Kelly's delightful habit of talking with her hands and couldn't resist commenting. This chance comment turned into an hour or so (we actually lost track of time) of creative spark. The three of us discussed theatre, writing, photography, movies, Tiff, and much more, but the biggest one that resonated with Kelly and I was something we needed to hear. Our stranger was not only a brilliant writer and educator, but he was a man who believed in paying it forward. After reading several of his stories online, it really set us to thinking. We have always been involved in charity work, but as the studio has gotten busier, this was something that we had sadly put aside. That's why we believe our stranger was sent to us.
Sometimes we get exactly what we need and fate will force us to take the time to remember that. Did we get any business done that evening? It all depends on how you look at it. We didn't get done what we had planned, but the universe had a different agenda. We are thankful for our chance meeting, and our reminder that we are very blessed and should be paying it forward in our personal and business life. Keep an eye out for whatever is put in your path and enjoy the ride!
