Our journey to WPPI 2013 Las Vegas

WPPI 2013 can be summed up in one word. A-MA-ZING. From the very first day we arrived, we felt we were home.

The education was top notch. From seminar to seminar the theme was obvious. Tons of learning mixed with crazy emotion and humor worthy of a comedy club.

Beside from the unparalleled education  we received on lighting, posing, maximizing our gear and understanding our clients, something happened that we did not see coming. We met friends. LOTS of new friends from all over the world. Korea, Miami, Hawaii, Midwest, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Poland, Austria to name a few.

We all felt so connected in a wonderful way. We could talk photography for hours with them and they actually liked it! We didn't get that glazed over look that we get from our family! Exchange stories, learn from each other and bond. Oh, and vow to keep in touch.

We made time for a Cirque de Soleil show and a photoshoot on the Vegas strip. Check out our video for that. Not only did we have the opportunity to meet the mega celebrities from the photog world, we were able to interact with them, ask them questions, spend time with them and just to soak in their greatness. Too numerous to name but including Sue Bryce, Jasmine Star, Kevin Kubota, Jeremy Cowart and Bambi Cantrell.

Comfy footwear, lip gloss and tons of water was very good advice as we moved from event to event. The awards felt like the Grammys. Humor and emotion were high. Some of you may remember that we posted a video of images created by Sue Bryce for cancer fighter, Jill Brzezinski-Conley. Jill has incurable stage IV breast cancer and surprised Sue by attending the finals to present her with an award for her images in their Paris shoot. That video now has over half a million views.

All of our goals and dreams were surpassed. We are entirely addicted to WPPI and can't wait to return next year.

You may wonder why we have chosen to share so much of our experience here. After all, it was just a conference, right?. People attend them every day. There are 2 reasons. We have local photographers that follow our blog and we want to challenge them to band together with us next year as we make the journey again. Lets push photography in Niagara to the limits and beyond. Lets all go away somewhere creative without competition of each other and just DO what we do best. The second reason is that we are fully entangled in our business. We are passionate about it. And we want to keep our clients involved in what charges us up. You deserve that.

To put it simply, we really had a life changing experience and we will never.be.the same.(but in a good way). We are refreshed, renewed, creatively charged and our goals are crystal clear. Can't wait to get back to what we do best, creating memories.
